AN INTERACTIVE ZONE IN THE MUSEUM OF RUSSIAN IMPRESSIONISM
VIZHU designed and developed a multimedia zone for the museum.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
We came up with the idea of the interactive zone, designed installations, and architecture, developed technical solutions and content
We set up and put the interactive zone into operation meeting the deadline. Using architectural solutions we turned installations into art objects. The constructions are made of artificial stone and they perfectly add to the museum space.
CONCEPT
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Our concept is based on the idea that the interactive zone should add to and expand the experience of viewing art with the help of technology and unusual presentation of theory.

Paintings are the main objects in a museum. Installations bring additional benefits. They help visitors to get the feel of the art world, learn about the tools and principles of artists' work, about color and shadow, to learn the difference between impressionism and classical art.

When working with installations, you will never turn your back on the paintings - we respect the artists and their works.
01 INSTALLATION
ART TOOLS
  • For adults
  • For children and visitors with limited mobility

The installation introduces visitors to the basic tools of artists.

Behind the transparent screen are brushes, a palette knife, canvas, and a real mineral. On the shelf below, visitors can touch these objects and run a demonstration showing how these tools are used.

We filmed professional artists at work and then embedded the video inside the installation.

Real artist's tools are behind a transparent touch screen. Get to know the artist's tools by touching the transparent screen. Touch any object and run a demonstration. It is allowed to touch the exhibits!

02 INSTALLATION
SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS
The installation introduces the basic principles of color science via exciting experiments.

With the help of a tablet and a holographic box, visitors learn how to mix colors and the schemes of harmonious color combinations. Using this knowledge, they color a virtual butterfly and set it free. The app also shows what light, shadow and, reflex in art are. All the acquired knowledge is applied in practical experiments.

03 INSTALLATION
THE BIRTH OF A PAINTING
The app demonstrates different approaches used in classical art and impressionism.

The visitors are guided step-by-step through the process of creating two paintings from a sketch to the final result. By scrolling the controller wheel, the visitors can control the artist's brush and immerse themselves in the process. We have provided interactive clues to spare the visitors from information overload.

Comparison of the complex and painstaking process of academic painting and the light, airy style of impressionists.

Over 50 hours of video content with professional artists.

The content is controlled by a controller, and you can activate a clue by tapping on the screen.
MAP
MAP OF RUSSIAN IMPRESSIONISM
There is a geographical map on the screen. Moving between the marks, the visitors learn about artists and events that took place in different cities. Also in the artist's profile, you can see the paintings from the museum's collection.

The application can be controlled by tapping on the screen or by scrolling the controller wheel.
04 INSTALLATION
ARTIST’S STUDIO
The installation demonstrates the difference between studio and plein-air painting.

Behind a transparent screen, there are models of a studio and plein-air where Russian artists Ilya Repin and Igor Emanuilovich Grabar created their masterpieces. By touching various objects on the transparent screen, the visitors can learn how the objects are used.
