EXHIBITION ‘PETER THE GREAT’
To celebrate the anniversary of Peter the Great, VIJU team made an exhibition devoted to the first Russian emperor who was a strong player on the world stage, his reforms and their important role in the formation of Russia, and new vectors of development chosen by the first Russian emperor.

We developed a semantic and architectural concept and artistic design of the exhibition, created scenarios of the exhibition, interactive installations and technical setups, developed the content, and supervised the construction; our team assembled and put all the equipment into operation.
CONCEPT
The main theme of the exhibition was the problem of choice. Peter the Great made many dubious and complex decisions and he did it quickly, decisively, and efficiently.
Thinking retrospectively, it seems that those were evident and the only possible solutions. Clearly, now we know the context and we are aware of the conditions under which those decisions were made and what the consequences were.
DESIGN
A polygonal wave was chosen as a visual metaphor for the exposition
A wave symbolizes the very first association with Peter the Great – ships, St. Petersburg, victories at sea. A polygonal shape means complexity of both Peter the Great and his innovations.
SPACE DESIGN
The general stylization of space is single-colored. We highlight the elements only by experimenting with textures and volumes and using only one type of material.
We achieved immersion due to creating theme-based halls – a village, a town, and a dockyard.
USER SCENARIO
EXHIBITION ROUTE
The visitors find themselves in a critical situation and they have to choose between several equal options. The choice is not evident.
PERSONAL ROUTE
Arches of Choice
To make a choice, a visitor should go through one arch. With the help of software, the data are compiled and transformed into a common system. The scenario of the final projection play and photomechanics depends on the choice of visitors.
PERSONAL ROUTE
Screens of Choice
To answer the questions on the screen, a visitor should tap their badge on one of the reading devices. At the end, photomechanics will remind the visitor of all his choices and invite them to take a position at the court of Peter the Great – admiral, Prosecutor General, chief secretary of the Senate or treasurer.
PERSONAL ROUTE
Performance ‘The Choice’
The final projection zone summarizes the choice of the visitors and their answers to questions. This is the zone for reflection on the complexity of Peter’s choice and his main resources – Power of Mind, Human Experience and Time.
PERSONAL ROUTE
AI PHOTOMECHANICS
At the end of the exhibition, all visitors could try the role of the Emperor using screens with photomechanics.
TECHNICAL SCHEME
A diagram of the process of feedback collection. The final performance and photomechanics are based on the data collected from the visitors.
INTERACTIVE INSTALLATIONS
PHYGITAL ACTIVITIES
Controllers for managing the content by applying physical actions – rotation, movement, and switching over (modern phygital technologies).
PERFORMANCE
PETER’S DREAMS
The formative years of the future ruler are presented in a hall with moving shadow figures. The dreams, hopes, and fears of Peter are projected on the sails of frigates that very soon will be the frigates of the first Russian Emperor.
PERFORMANCE
A MULTIMEDIA PERFORMANCE ‘STRONG PERSONALITY OF PETER THE GREAT’
The play lasts only 4 minutes and speaks with the audience about Peter’s moving into adulthood, poteshny or toy regiment, the famous Botik of Peter the Great, and his first victory at the siege of the Turkish fortress Azov.
SETUP
The setup consists of 270° mapping with a moving platform and polygonal ramp.
PERFORMANCE
DOME SHOW ‘FINAL RESULTS’
During the dome show the results of Peter the Great ruling are summed up. The visitors can see a symbolic ship built by Peter that was allowed access to the sea. And, of course, a new port in St. Petersburg thanks to which ships could arrive arrive and leave Russia. This was the beginning of the international trade and cultural communication.
WEB APPLICATION
ADMINISTRATIVE PANEL
There is an easy access to the plays control system for the guides.
